
Gülşah Altun
She was born in Çanakkale. After graduating from Istanbul Kadıköy Anatolian High School, She started his undergraduate education in Kocaeli University Electronics and Communication Engineering Department. She graduated from the university at the end of 1999 and started to work as a software engineer in the R&D department of Alcatel, Teletaş in Istanbul. After working at Alcatel for about 2 years, he started his master’s degree in Computer Engineering at Georgia State University in Atlanta, USA in 2001. She won the prestigious GSU MBD (Molecular Basis of Disease) scholarship and took part in various projects in bioinformatics anal. After completing his doctorate in computer engineering in 2008, he started working as a research assistant on stem cells between 2008 and 2011 at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and The Scripps Research Institute, San Diego institutes. He analyzed high volume DNA microchip data of stem cells and published articles in international conferences and journals. In 2011, She started working in the R&D department of Thermo Fisher Scientific in San Francisco as a bioinformatics software engineer and researcher. She is currently working in the company in the field of next generation genome sequencing and produces various software on this subject.
During his graduate studies, She volunteered at the university’s student club named “GSU Student Chapter of ACM (Association for Computing Machinery)”. After working as a program manager for 2 years, She was elected president and headed the student club for 3 years. She organized various activities for students in the club; She invited software engineers working in academia and industry to speak. In addition, She taught various computer courses during his studies and advised students during the summer.
